TapMiner — The Speed Drops Before The Threshold

Verdict up front: a paying subscriber of TapMiner reports that the mining speed drops sharply as the balance approaches the withdrawal threshold. Another describes logging out and back in to reset the daily bonus. The app has 100,000 downloads and sits at 3.0 stars.

BTC Cloud Mining: TapMiner is published by QF Intech. On the day we checked it showed 3.0 stars from 1,540 reviews, 100,000+ downloads, and both ads and in-app purchases. It is filed under Finance and was last updated on 13 August 2026.

The throttle

Anil Nair, 2 August 2026, is describing something more specific than “it did not pay”. He is describing when it stopped paying:

He reports that, despite paid subscriptions, the mining speed reduces drastically as the balance nears the withdrawal threshold, and that support did not respond.

That is a different complaint from a broken payout, and a more valuable one. A payout that simply fails is obvious, generates refund requests, and gets an app removed. A rate that quietly decays as you approach the finish line produces something far more useful to an operator: a customer who believes he is nearly there.

Why a throttle beats a refusal

Think about what each design produces.

An app that refuses withdrawals gets one-star reviews, chargebacks and a Play Store investigation. The complaint is easy to state: they did not pay me.

An app that slows down instead produces reviews like the ones on this page — hedged, three stars, people saying they will come back and update. The user cannot prove anything. His balance did go up, just more slowly, and the only person who can see the rate is the operator who sets it.

It also does something the refusal cannot: it sells the next subscription. If the speed is the problem, more speed is the solution, and more speed is for sale.

The listing promises the opposite

From the store listing

“BTC Cloud Mining: TapMiner brings you a smart, hassle-free way to mine BTC without draining your phone’s battery. Our platform rents powerful cloud-based computing resources so you can earn passive income effortlessly.”

The listing adds a disclaimer that the app “does not perform cryptocurrency mining on your device” and is “designed only for tracking, managing, and monitoring remote cloud mining activities”.

Read that carefully. It says no mining happens on your phone. It does not say that mining happens anywhere at all. An app that only “tracks and monitors” a remote operation is describing a dashboard — and a dashboard can display any number its operator chooses.

The store gallery is less restrained: “START MINING, TRACK PROGRESS”, “BOOST YOUR MINING POWER — Hash Power Store”, “UNLOCK MORE REWARDS”, and an account wallet screen showing a total balance of 0.479485409512 BTC — tens of thousands of dollars, on a marketing image, for an app sitting at three stars.

The login loop

Wiseman D, 4 September 2026, notes that logging out and back in resets the daily bonus claim, producing extra rewards. Bryan Jordan, 23 August 2026, reports the app crashing after an update with more video content, requiring mining to be restarted and purchases restored.

Both of those are the same underlying fact from different angles: the balance is not anchored to anything. It resets, it restores, it can be farmed by logging out. A number that behaves like that is not a record of work done. It is a counter.

Three stars from fifteen hundred people

A 3.0 average is what an app looks like when roughly half its users leave happy and half leave angry — which is exactly what a throttle produces. The people who never reach the threshold write the one stars. The people still climbing towards it write the fours and fives, because at that point nothing has gone wrong yet.

It is worth knowing that QF Intech also publishes BTCHash – Cloud Mining Hub, which carries a considerably healthier rating. Same developer, two listings, two very different scores.

What would prove real mining

Any genuine cloud mining contract can name its pool, its worker and a payout address you can look up on the public blockchain. Payments are verifiable by strangers — that is the point of a blockchain.

TapMiner offers none of that. It offers a number on a screen, a hash power store, and a speed only it can see.

  • A slowing rate near the threshold is the tell. Note your balance daily and look at the rate, not the total.
  • If more speed is the answer to every problem, speed is the product.
  • “Tracking and monitoring” is not mining. Read the disclaimer for what it does not claim.
  • Ask for the pool, worker and payout address. Real mining can be checked on-chain by anyone.
  • A balance on a marketing screenshot is a graphic, not an account.

If you are subscribed and waiting on a threshold

Cancel the subscription in Google Play rather than in the app, and do not upgrade to speed it up — that is what the slowdown is for. Request a refund through Google Play while the charges are recent. Screenshot your balance, the rate and the withdrawal screen on consecutive days before anything changes, then report it at IC3.gov. In the UK, report it to Action Fraud.
