CIBFX flagged by regulators

CIBFX Cites an Authority That Is Not a Regulator

CIBFX (cibfx.com), trading as Capital Investment Brokers, calls itself the number one broker in Latin America with more than 15 years of experience and over 500 instruments. It says it is authorised by the “International Forex & CFD Services Authority”. Traders on an independent forex review forum where traders rate their brokers rate it 1.58 out of 5 from 24 reviews.

The 50 lot rule

One trader from India described the condition that stopped him. After depositing 500 dollars, he says, he was told he had to trade 50 lots before he could withdraw. On a 500 dollar account that volume is close to impossible without losing the balance first. He adds that expert advisors and scalping were blocked, rules he says were not on the website. Hidden trading volume requirements are one of the most common ways to make a withdrawal unreachable.

  1. Read the withdrawal terms before you deposit, not after.
  2. Ask in writing whether any lot volume is required to withdraw.
  3. Do not accept a bonus. It is often what triggers these rules.

CIBFX also says its site is not for residents of the EU, the UK, the US, Canada and Japan. Those are the places with the strictest regulators. Brokers that avoid them on purpose are telling you where they could not get licensed.

We could not find any government financial regulator called the International Forex & CFD Services Authority. Real regulators carry a country’s name: the FCA in the UK, CySEC in Cyprus, ASIC in Australia. A body with a generic international name that only a broker mentions is there to look official. The other paperwork, a Saint Vincent company and a Mwali registration, comes from places known for quick offshore setups, not investor protection.
