Verdict up front: Inorbit Investment Management describes itself as “a leading investment management firm” providing “alternative investment strategies for institutional and private investors around the world”. Its entire web presence is a free Jimdo subdomain. It is named on the Securities Commission Malaysia Investor Alert List.
Site facts — checked 24 September 2026
- Address: inorbitinvestmgmt.jimdofree.com — a free subdomain on a website builder, not a purchased domain
- Regulator: named on the Securities Commission Malaysia Investor Alert List
- Self-description: “a leading investment management firm… innovative fund management solutions, including alternative investment strategies for institutional and private investors around the world”
- Menu promises: Our Philosophy · Investment Process · Risk Management Framework · Our Team · Funds · Model Portfolios
- Strapline across the top: “…..We Deals… We Invest… We Partner…”
- Not disclosed: no company number, registered address, named director, auditor, administrator, custodian, licence or regulator
Institutions do not read Jimdo pages
The claimed client base is institutional: pension money, endowments, family offices. Those investors run operational due diligence before a single ringgit moves — they want audited accounts, a named administrator, a custodian, a prime broker, a regulator and a licence number.
An institution presented with a free website-builder subdomain does not ask a follow-up question. The mismatch between the claim and the address is total, and it is visible before anyone reads a word of the page.
The menu is a table of contents for a firm that would need to exist
Risk Management Framework. Investment Process. Funds. Model Portfolios. Our Team. These are the section headings of a real asset manager’s website, and they are exactly what somebody would list if they were describing the idea of one.
What is missing underneath them is every fact that could be checked: which funds, domiciled where, administered by whom, audited by whom, with what performance over what period, managed by which named people holding which qualifications.
Read the strapline aloud
Across the top of the page, where a firm puts the line it wants remembered, sits “…..We Deals… We Invest… We Partner…”
An institutional asset manager’s tagline goes through a marketing team, a compliance review and a proofreader. This one did not go past the person typing it. It is a small thing, and it is the sort of small thing that does not survive contact with a real firm.
Leading is not a claim, it is a habit
“Leading” appears in the opening sentence. It is the most common word in this genre because it sounds like a ranking without being one.
A firm that actually led anything would say by what measure — assets, returns, a survey, an award with a year attached. This one follows it with “fast growing Asian investment opportunities and other parts of the world”, a phrase that covers the entire planet and commits to nothing.
What the free host actually signals
A Jimdo free page costs nothing and takes an afternoon. It is a perfectly respectable way to put up a bakery’s opening hours.
For a firm claiming to manage institutional capital it signals two things at once: that nobody was willing to spend on infrastructure, and that the operator wanted something disposable. Both point the same way, and the Securities Commission Malaysia reached the same conclusion when it added the name to its alert list.
- Look at the domain before the copy. A free subdomain answers most of the question.
- Ask for the administrator, custodian and auditor. Real funds name all three.
- Check the regulator’s register, not the firm’s own page.
- “Leading” with no measure attached is filler, not a credential.
